Silver Post Medal for All Time! 293 Posts This is the staple flat bread of India. Half a billion Indian women make this every day. This is easy and delicious! I wanted to photograph all of it in a nice stack, but my kiddos ate it just as fast as it came off the stove! :)

This is great alone, would complement eggs in the morning, even soup at night. Very versatile. Who would think that such simple ingredients could be so good?
Total Time: About 1 hour start to finish
Yield: 14 roti breads
Source: Modified from a recipe in a Funion Family cookbook
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour, more for sprinkling
- 1/2 tsp sea salt, plus additional at the end
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup or less of water
- butter

Steps:
- Add your flour, salt and oil to a bowl.

- Gradually add your water. I only needed just over 3/4 of a cup. Too much, too sticky. Too little, too crumbly. Gradual is best.

- Work your water in and combine well.

- Dust your counter with flour.

- Roll your dough into 14 balls about this size.
- Flatten with a rolling pin, or your hand.

- Place in your medium heat pan, no oil needed. Cook about 3 minutes on this side.

- Flip and cook about 3 more minutes.

- Spread with butter, sprinkle a tiny amount of sea salt and enjoy! Best when eaten right after they're made.
