We have been visited by javelina quite regularly in the middle of the night. They kept eating our flowers, so we stopped planting them. Then we discovered they eat birdseed that has fallen to the ground.
They are beautiful. Please don't hurt them.
We have taken so much living space from animals. Who can blame them for foraging ? They are fascinating, how marvellous to see them so close.
Marg from England.
They have been coming to my mom's yard also(she lives in AZ),run out of their natural habitat. They eat the salt block she has for her cow. It's scary because they can be extremely mean & dangerous when startled or cornered & my mom is 70 & doesn't move fast. Also,we visit every year & my boys & my grandkids go with me & are used to running around her property.
I found a PDF listing Javalina resistant plants you can plant but I would make sure they are mature and not seedlings.
These creatures are so sadly at the mercy of we humans now and the only reason they get mean is that they are trying to protect themselves from possible threats.
