John Deere LA115 Mower Won't Start?

My John Deere lawnmower will barely turn over. I put in a new battery, starter, and solenoid! Any idea what could be the problem? It would run fine after I got it started, but it will not turn enough to even start now!

Here are a few things that can cause the tractor to not start.

  1. Inspect your spark plugs for signs of wear and tear. The spark plug is what ignites the air mixture and fuel in the engine's cylinder to start the tractor.
  2. You could have old or bad gas in your engine. If you have left gas in the engine it could evaporate and leave a thick substance in your engine that can clog your engine. The old gas can clog the carburetor and your engine won't strt.
  3. The last problem could be a clogged fuel filter. This also happens from bad or dirty gas.

  5. Before replacing any of these parts rain the old fuel from your fuel tank and replace it with new fuel.

Same problem and I'm 99% sure it was old gas due to my mother never servicing it. The LA115 is currently at 299 hours. I replaced the inline fuel filter, air filter and sponge behind filter, oiled all the pulleys (since they wouldn't engage initially), wd-40'd what I couldn't physically reach, and put a full tank of new gas in it. Still wouldn't start so I changed the plug which was seriously rusted and obviously old. Again no go. It turns over great but just won't catch. I am now at the point where battery started to sound slow so I gave up. I have changed a carb on a push mower and assume it is the same for a rider but would that be the next logical step? Otherwise how do I clean the rest of the bad gunk out of the engine?

I would start by checking the fuel tank, line, and filter. Having old fuel can clog the filter, not letting your mower turn over.
