Keep Bagged Salad Fresh Longer

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 677 Posts

aper towel in bag of saladBagged salads are a real convenience, but are expensive and spoil easily. When they go on sale, I will buy one or two bags at most. I then put a paper towel in the bag to absorb excess moisture. I change the towel when it is damp. This keeps the salad fresh an extra day or two, and gives me the chance to use it up, rather than throw it out.

YES! I have done this and it works! I also do this with thinly sliced cucumbers. They keep a very long this way with less spoilage! :)

I use blue apple in my fruit and vegetables draw in the refrigerator. I poke 6-8 holes with a small steak knife on both sides of the salad bag. They last 7-10 days.
