Keeping a Cat from Scratching a Wound?

I have a cat that has a wound right behind his ear on his neck and he won't stop scratching. I tried cutting up pairs of tube socks and putting it over his ears and neck and through his feet like a harness, but he still manages to get it off. I took him to the vet and they said it wasn't infected, but he won't stop messing with it. What do I do to make him stop?

You might consider putting one of those cone collars on her until the wound heals you can get one at any pet store. However, if the vet was not concerned with it then I wouldn't be either.

I hope you will disregard the suggestion that you shouldn't be concerned if your vet isn't. Any wound on your cat should be taken seriously.

Should an infection develop it can spread quickly with devastating effects. Find a vet that takes this seriously Good luck.

Your cat may not like it, but plastic cones will prevent him from scratching.
