Kenmore Sewing Machine Won't Feed Fabric?

The reverse function on my Kenmore, model 385 sewing machine stopped working so I forced the fabric back and forward several times. Now it has stop moving the fabric. I would like to know if this could have damaged the timing?

You might have damaged the feed dogs. That is my first thought. If you are lucky, some fabric or thread may be clogging it. Take the needle plate off and use a flashlight to see. Use tweezers to remove debris carefully.

You may have popped the spring under the dogs.

If you are handy, you can probably replace it (if it isn't broken).

If it is broken, you can try taking it to a fabric store and see if they have one that matches it.

Hope it is an easy fix for you.
