Kitty in Heat Meowing a Lot?

I have a female cat and she is currently in heat. She has been super lovey and cuddly which is awesome, but she has been non stop meowing all day long. I don't really know what to do for her. Anyone have any suggestions? I am new to this site so I don't really know if this is the type of questions that are asked on here.

Sorry in advance if not! And thank you in advance if anyone have some suggestions for me!

This type of question is fine here.
Unless you plan to breed your cat, the best thing you can do is get her spayed. She won't go through heat cycles, she won't get pregnant accidentally if she gets outdoors, she won't be attracting unwanted male cats that have the tendency to spray everywhere and yowl a lot, and SHE won't be yowling because of heat cycles.

Spaying her is best, as there are already WAY TOO MANY cats with no homes and nobody to love and care for them. Good luck and report back here.

I am so sorry for you and know how hard this one must be. I normally take all my cats to the vet when they are 4-5 months old and have them fixed right away. This avoids the problems you are having right now with the female cats and also stops the male cats from spraying in your home. Cats are in heat for around a month and she is basically at the end of her heat which should last between 1 to 2 weeks longer.

You can try to call the vet to see if they can suggest some sort of pill you can give her to help her out. I had a neighbor who did not want to fix her cat and so she gave her a pill one a month. I find out it is better to just fix them and they are a lot happier.

Cats are much happier when they are spayed. I spay my kittens at about 5 and a half months. If they are spayed when they are younger they have a much lower incidence of cancer when they are older. They bounce back quickly from the surgery. Many rescues and Humane Societies can help you find funding if that is an issue.

Our kitten went into heat at about 5 months and she was very affectionate, which was strange as she was a feral stray and was scared of everyone at the time. She also meowed a lot, which was also unusual.

We went in and got her spayed as soon as possible. She healed up fast, it didn't slow her down for more than a couple of days. Kittens can be fun but kittens having kittens can be dangerous for both mother and kits.

If you don't want to have her spayed at this time, be sure to keep her away from any other cats. Watch for blood stains where she has been. It usually lasts about 6 days but will continue every 3 months or so until she is spayed or bred. Be warned that cats in heat can be very unpredictable and a normally indoor cat might become an escape artist.

If you're not able to pay to have her spayed, first of all you'll need to keep her separated from males. To help calm her down and relieve any discomfort, try giving her a warm pad to be on.

Towel fresh from the dryer, a heating pad, or even a cloth wrung out of hot water. Petting and gentle brushing are nice too (she'll let you know if she disagrees). Good luck!
