Labradors and Doggy Odor?

Do Labradors smell due to producing too much oil in their hair? I'm thinking about getting one, but not if they stink.

We have 2 labs and they don't stink at all unless they are dirty. We bathe them about once every 4-5 months. Ours are indoor dogs who only go outside to walk on a leash or play in our yard with us. They are wonderful dogs but you must train them - they have way too much energy to be left unchallenged or trained. But, they are super smart and catch on quickly.

Someone once told me that a lab is a puppy until it is 3 years old. I kind of agree. Not trying to discourage you, just want you to know what you are getting into. If you are looking for a quiet lap dog, don't get a young lab. Older labs will fit that bill perfectly and there are lots and lots of those in shelters. Good luck and if you do get one, post pictures!
