Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - board in holder on mantelIt seems with every mail order there is some type of protection for your delivery. This last delivery, had 2 perfectly square Styrofoam sheets in the box. These two beauties will now become memory boards. This is a super easy and thrifty repurposed project!

Supplies:

Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - Styrofoam packing sheets
 
Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - ribbon and fabric
 

Steps:

  1. Take your squares and cut fabric to size (like wrapping a gift).
  2. Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - wrap the Styrofoam piece in your fabric
     
  3. Glue down seams and folds, trimming access for a cleaner look.
  4. Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - glue and trim
     
  5. With your ribbon, start from one corner crossing to the other opposite corner, using your glue gun to secure your ribbon to the back of the board. Do this 2 to 3 more times.
  6. Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - begin adding ribbon, diagonally, glueing to the back

  7. Now run your ribbon in the opposite direction underneath the top layer of ribbon, making sure it is long enough to glue around to the back.

  9. After you have the diagonal look, place a tack in the center of each diamond, pressing down firmly.
  10. Making A Memory Board From Packing Materials - firmly place a tack where the ribbons cross
     
  11. Put in favorite notes and pictures and display!

Now I'll hang onto those styrofoam sheets.

You can also use the cardboard that fabric is wrapped around. The fabric stores will usually give them to you, since they aren't re-used.

They are nice to display all the loose photos that seem to accumulate.
