Making Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

These delicious cocoa cookies are an all time favorite. The dough is cooled before being rolled into balls, covered in confectioner's sugar, and baked. Several recipes can be found on this page, including one made with red velvet cake mix.

I have been addicted to choco crinkles since high school. I am now trying to learn the recipe so that I can share it to my kids. Now I just want them to enjoy my homemade goodies.


  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)


  1. Mix cocoa powder and sugar.

  3. Add vegetable oil. Stir well to combine.
  4. Stir in one egg at a time. Use an electric mixer to blend it very well with the mixture.
  5. In another bowl combine flour, salt and baking powder.
  6. Stir dry ingredients into the cocoa powder.
  7. Mix very well.

  9. Cover dough with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  10. After dough is chilled start preheating the oven at 150 C (300 degrees F). Scoop a spoonful of the mixture.
  11. Form into balls.
  12. Coat each ball in confectioners sugar.
  13. Place them on lined baking sheets with 1 inch space between.

  15. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  16. Allow to cool and enjoy.
