I'm very new to typewriters and I have a Smith-Corona 2200 Coronamatic. There is a red light that turns on every time I turn it on. Is this standard or is there something wrong?

Is the typewriter working normally? If it is I wouldnt worry about it.
These are nice machines but you are right to try and find out if this means there is a problem.
Do you have a manual? You will probably need one if you intend to keep and use your machine.
