Natural Ideas for Ant Control

My neighbor had a huge pile of cement ants. She used a mix of 50/50 baking soda and powered sugar. They were gone the next day. I thought the sugar would attract them but it worked. I have used soapy water as well. Ants don't like peppermint either, use oil not candy.

Depending on how much borax solution you spray on plants, it can either burn or kill them. I speak from personal experience.

We've had problems with fire ants coming in through cracks all over the house. I tried the powdered sugar/baking soda in a small plastic container with a little water, and within a few hours, the container would be filled with ants.

I did it twice this year, and I haven't seen any ants in the house since, so maybe I killed both mounds that were under the house. The baking soda, which they can't differentiate from the sugar, kills them because they can't burp.
