I have a Universal Webster Morris Self Pronouncing dictionary. Only Copyright 1908, The John C. Winston CO. It has a preface by Charles Morris. Leatherbound, very good condition. Is this valuable? Thank you for your time.

There are Universal Self-Pronouncing Webster Dictionary 1908, but in bad condition for $19.99
www.ebay.ca/.../333260173734?hash=item4d97dab1a6...
and Universal Self-Pronouncing Dictionary Handy Edition 1914 John C Winston Co in excellent condition for $49.95

You have not added any pictures of your dictionary, so I assume that the condition of it is very good, but not excellent. I think the price of your Dictionary is about $35-45, but you can try to sell it for $49.

It is always best to include several pictures of any book when asking about value as what one person declares as 'good condition' may not be the same 'condition' as others see it.

Assuming your book is in good condition, it is possible the value could be estimated at $45-$50 but it may take months/years to sell as dictionaries are not in high demand since the computer dictionaries work effortlessly and the younger generation are on the verge of wondering why anyone would ever need 'a book'?.
From online sales (for whatever reason) it appears that later editions - 1914> - are much more popular that the 1908 edition.
I believe that overall condition plays a bigger part in the value than age which is not always the case.

You can check out this dictionary on eBay just to see what sellers are asking for this edition and other editions. You can also place a watch on any listing to see if it sells or how long it stays listed unsold. Many sellers list books for sale and leave them posted for years and they may never sell.

But - sales are unpredictable so there is no way to set a time table on how long a book will take to sell.

Since there is nothing really special about your edition (and other similar more popular editions are listed for sale) probably the only way you can perhaps sell your dictionary for more than $10-$15 is to take several very good pictures - front, ends, spine, title page, inside pages showing binding is in good condition (no loose pages) and no writing on pages and condition of leather is important.

It is nice to have antique books around but being over 100 years old does not always make a book more valuable.

Unless a dictionary is over 100 years old, or is a signed first edition, it is virtually worthless.
