Three differently decorated bookmarks.This is a simple way of making a corner bookmark by means of paper folding.

No glue required

Younger children may need help with the folding, but everyone can have fun decorating them with crayons and stickers

Total Time: 10 minutes

Supplies:

  • 1 square piece of paper
  • Stickers (or crayons)
Supplies for origami corner bookmark.
 

Steps:

  1. Take a square of plain or patterned paper. Size is not too important. Fold and crease the square in half diagonally.
  2. Folding a piece of origami paper.
     
  3. Fold in half again
  4. Folding the paper again.
     
  5. You should now have a triangle like this.
  6. The twice folded piece of paper.
     
  7. Open up the paper. If you have a patterned and a plain side as in the photos, make sure the plain side is facing up
  8. Unfolding the paper.

  9. Fold and crease two opposite corners to the centre
  10. Folding in the corners.
     
  11. Then fold in half in the same direction
  12. Folding the bookmark.
     
  13. Fold the left hand top edge to meet the centre fold
  14. Folding the bookmark.
     
  15. Repeat on the right hand side
  16. Folding the bookmark.
     
  17. Your paper should now look like this

  19. Turn the whole thing over
  20. Folding the bookmark.
     
  21. A little bit of a squeeze at the edges will reveal a pocket
  22. Folding the bookmark.
     
  23. Fold and crease the two points up into the pocket
  24. Folding the bookmark.
     
  25. Your corner bookmark is now ready to decorate
  26. The finished folded bookmark.
     
  27. This one has been decorated with stickers, but you could use crayons instead if your paper is plain.

I love the idea of this bookmark. I love to read and being disabled I am not able to do the crafts I used to do. This would be something I could do and I could make them as gifts for the Holidays and for birthdays, anniversaries and other special days for family and friends.
