They are almost impossible to remove. You may need to have them sanded and refinished. If the urine went deep into the wood you may not be able to sand it out.

I'd try vinegar and steel wool. Then restain that area if necessary.

Yes! The peroxide soaked paper towel covered with plastic bags for 6 hours. Did remove black stains on oak wood floor. I have not sanded or poly-ed the wood yet. Will let you know!

Please tell me more about the peroxide soaked paper towels for pet urine stains. I rent and have an elderly dog with bladder issues and when I pulled up my rug today there is a rather large black stain on the hardwood floors.

I am just amazed by some of these posts by Tenants! I am a small landlord trying to repair very old damage to floors from past tenants' pets. Even the best tenants I know have never taken responsibility for it. Congratulations, you guys!
