Poppy Seed Bread


  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. poppy seed
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1 /2 cups oil

  • 1 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. almond extract
  • milk
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar


Combine first 5 ingredients in bowl, mixing well. Add next 4 ingredients with 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract and 1 1/2 cups milk, beating well. Pour into 4 greased and floured 4x8 inch pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes. Blend confectioners' sugar with 2 Tbsp. milk and 1/2 tsp. almond extract. Drizzle over loaves.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Beat together eggs, sugar, oil, and milk in bowl. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in separate bowl.

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease bottom only of loaf pan or 2 small loaf pans. Mix all ingredients; beat 30 seconds. Pour into pans. Bake 9 inch loaf for 55 to 65 minutes and 8 inch loaf 55 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean; remove from pan...
