Before gardening, scrape your nails over a bar of soap. This makes it really easy to clean dirt from your nails after gardening. This also works when wearing gloves.

Here's an old trick for people who don't like to use gloves when they garden. Rub your finger nails over a bar of soap. Your nails will fill up with the soap and prevent dirt from building up. When you clean up, scrub your nails with a nail brush to easily remove the soap.
That's a great idea. I always have discolored nails after a day of gardening. Thanks! (03/09/2007)
Hi, I have been doing this for years. I am an avid gardener and also have acrylic nails on. The soap method is great! (03/09/2007)
I love to garden! Before I start, I run my fingernails across a bar of soap lightly. When I am done in the yard, I wash my hands with a nail brush and my nails are clean because the soap was under my nails. It works great!

Thank you for this tip, I am always dredging dirt with my nails, and vinyl gloves just don't work. (08/04/2005)
