Protecting Your Bike Against Loss

It seems to me that the best way to ensure against loss is to ALWAYS lock up your bike to some immovable object with a good cable bike lock. Put the cable through BOTH wheels. When you have it at home, lock it up in a place not easily accessible by strangers.
