Punky Pie Hot Pad Wall Hanging
Decorate for the season with this cute crochet pumpkin pie wall hanging. You will need a J and an N hook and 4 yarn colors. This works up in about an hour; the instructions can be found on this page.

Please note: that this is a wall hanging, and "should not" be used for real cooking. I love the way this turned out. With just four colors of yarn, a larger and smaller hook, you can make this in about an hour. I hope you like it.

- 1 oz orange yarn
- 1 oz deep orange yarn
- 5 yd scrap green yarn
- 7 yd scrap white yarn
- size J hook
- size N hook
- darning needle
- With double oranges, chain 2 and make 11 singles in the first chain for 12. Join with a slip stitch.
- Chain 2 and make another single crochet in that stitch. Then make 2 singles in each stitch around for 24. Join with a slip stitch. Chain 2 and make a single crochet in that same stitch, and 1 in the next. Repeat this around for 36. Join with a slip stitch. Then chain 2 and make a single in that same stitch. Make 1 single in the next two and make 2 in the next around, for 36. Join with a slip stitch.
- Continue this pattern of adding one single for every 4, then 5, then 6 and then 7 till you have made 7 rows. This should make your work about 6.5" in diameter. Break off the tail and work in. Now you are ready for the crust.
- Join the double tan at any stitch. Now there are two ways to do this. Either make a foundation row of the tan, or go right to the scallops. I did both. So, either do the foundation row as if you were continuing on with the pattern of increasing one stitch for every 8 stitches now. This will keep your work flat. Then, since you will have 84 stitches, you can easily do multiples of 3 for 28 chain scallops. So chain 3 and skip one, making a slip stitch in the 3rd chain around. This will give you a nice finished pie look.
- For the whipped cream dollop, leave a long beginning and ending tail. Use the smaller hook and chain 30 with the white yarn. Then, make 2 doubles in the 3rd chain and 3 doubles in each chain across. This gives you that wonderful spiral effect, which you can then manipulate into the dollop of whipped cream. Use your darning needle (or the hook and pull through each tail and tie in the back) to sew the white to the middle using the tails.
NOTE: Get fancy and make 6 smaller ones to put on like the pie were sliced.
- For the stem, chain 2 with the green. Make a single in the first chain from the cook. Chain 1 and turn, doing the same with the next stitch. Keep this up till your triangle is 10 rows wide. Then chain 6 or 8 and slip stitch it back into the work for your hanging loop. Break off your chain about a foot long and sew it to the back of the shell, any spot will do. N-JOY!!
