Recipe For Deep Fried Pickles

Last year, while on vacation, we visited Stone Mountain, GA. We really enjoyed our trip, and one thing that we really enjoyed was "Deep Fried Pickles" that were served in one of the restaurants. They were really delicious. We asked for the recipe, but we were told that the recipe was a secret. The pickles were a deli type sliced spear, coated with some type of breading and then deep fried. It doesn't sound good, but they were to die for!

Does anyone have a recipe for these pickles?

Thank you,

We make them here at home and they are very easy to do. All we do is buy the whole pickles, slice into thin strips and then coat in a seasoned flour. You get to decide on the seasoning you like. Make sure your deep fryer is already set up and getting hot because you want as soon as you coat your slices to get them in the hot oil so that they don't suck up the flour mixture. Fry until golden brown and drain on paper towels! Enjoy! (04/21/2005)

Recipe For Deep Fried Pickles

I never heard about deep fried pickles until a day ago when my wife bought some at a local burger shop and I can honestly say that they are too salty and nothing that I'd buy again. (09/27/2007)

I was skeptical to try them myself, however they turned out to be a definite party must have. Our friends request them all the time. Love the recipe. Thank you:) (01/27/2008)

When you fry pickles use fresh oil and use this oil only when you fry pickles. I dip my pickle spears in flour, then buttermilk mixture and then again in seasoned flour mixture. Drop in basket in the fryer, in hot oil, do not over load basket. when they are don they will float to surface. remove basket, let oil drain off, place pickles on brown bag covered with paper towel.
