Recovery Time for a Puppy with Parvo?

So my 3 month old almost 4 Shih Tzu has parvo. She was diagnosed with it on Dec. 26; it's now Dec. 30. The day she was diagnosed was the first day she threw up. I have been giving her lots of water and medicines as the vet prescribed. She has barely eaten anything. I have given her food through a syringe and she has been holding it down, but she hasn't made a stool since the night she was diagnosed. Is she getting better? And what else can I do?

If she is no longer throwing up and she does not hae blood in her stools then she is getting better. Normally this can take a long time to heal and in some cases up to 4 weeks or maybe longer. If you are worried I would call the vet again and have him check on her. This is for your peace of mind.

I think she is getting better, and I think you can also call the vet and ask what you can expect.

It is a process that takes time. It sounds like your baby is coming along. Keep in touch with Vet, everything will be good!

Parvo is a difficult disease to recover from. The puppies that recover often have a caring (and hard working) owner to thank. Early veterinary care is very important and needs to be followed to the letter. Your puppy has been sick for a few days and may well be sick for a few more days. Get in the habit of calling your Vet and asking for updates as her situation changes.

They should talk with you and advise you over the phone for no charge, if you have been in to see them. Parvo symptoms can change and you need to keep checking back with your Vet. It is encouraging that she can keep some food down. It is also very important that she keep water down. I will be thinking good thoughts for you and your girl.

Sounds like things are on the right track. Just notify the vet ASAP if there are any changes and follow the vet guidance to the letter. I know lots of survivors and the vet care was critical. Post back with an update! Prayers for healing!
