I had itchy scalp for the longest time. I used to scratch until it bled and flaked. What worked best for me was to try my best to not scratch and it went away on its own.
It may be a fungal infection called malassezia. Take a look on google. If it is that you can treat it with medicated over the counter shampoo. Good luck with it.
