Removing Candle Wax from Carpet?

During a power outage I spilled wax on the carpet. Any suggestions to remove it?
Thanks.

Cover it with a paper towel, and then press with a warm iron, and keep blotting it up. You should be able to get most of it up that way. Then shampoo the carpet to remove the wax dye that may remain.

There is a special wax removing cleaner that dissolves wax that is an excellent choice for carpet. It comes with a little plastic scraper to help you remove it from the fibers. The warm iron/paper towel works good for fabric that doesn't melt, so you may want to be careful to not let the iron touch the carpet directly if you choose to use that method, however I'd like to caution you against it since I have friends that tried it and it didn't turn out so well for them.

The wax remover/ cleaning tool can be found at a lot of stores that carry cleaning supplies.

This has happened to me before. I went the opposite direction. I put ice over the wax, let it freeze, and it came up, no messy melted wax to deal with.

Cover the wax area with a cotton towel then iron over the towel set on high. The heat will absorb the wax into the towel.

Removing wax from carpet

Step 1
Dampen a white cotton towel

Step 2
Fold it in half and put over stain

Step 3
Set your iron to high

Step 4
Put the iron on the towel and hold for 10 seconds. The wax will be drawn to the towel

Step 5
Repeat as necessary. Make sure you move the towel so a clean part is on the stain.

The best way to do this is with an old iron and newspaper. Try and scrape as much of it off as you can. Then put down a few sheets of newspaper and start ironing. This will melt the wax and the newspaper will absorb it.

Take a brown paper bag (you can get them in any grocery store when they ask paper or plastic) cut it open and use one sheet to put it directly over the wax, take a regular clothes iron and on medium setting keep sliding the iron over the bag where the wax is until the wax "clings" to the bag and lifts up from the carpet.

Step 3
The heat will draw the wax out of the carpet into the towel.

Step 4
Repeat until all the wax is gone.
