When you get to the bottom of a cereal bag, there can be fine meal that you may not want in your bowl. You can sift the cereal in a colander. This is about removing cereal dust before serving.

When I get down to the last bit of Cheerios in the bag, there is a lot of meal that has settled to the bottom of the bag. I figured out an easier way for me to get the Cheerios separated from the meal so the last serving from the box is just as good as the 1st serving.

Not being wasteful, I found a good use for the meal as well.

  • Cheerios
  • colander
  • mixing bowl

  1. Pour the Cheerios into a colander.
  2. Shake it over a mixing bowl and save the meal for another use.
  3. Or mix it with food scraps and feed it to your chickens or your neighbors' chickens.
  4. They will gobble it up in just a few seconds and want more.

I save the meal, too. I put it in meatloaf or the batter for baked foods.

I also save the wax liner and use it instead of buying waxed paper.

Isn't that something how we go through life not thinking of a better way to shake the crumbs out of the cereal - I always used my fingers to shake it though - and here you've got the answer that takes care of that problem perfectly!

Great tip, thank you. :)
