Removing Pee Stains on Dog's Bed Cushion?

My little dog has peed on her little bed and by the time I found it the sponge cushion has humongous amounts of urine. How can I remove it?

I have an 19yr old Pomeranian who has sever bladder control issues. I have found washing his bedding in warm water with Amonia the best way to neutralize the odor, kill the germs.

If the bedding can be tossed in the washing machine I would do this. I have always washed my dogs toys and bedding in the machines to keep them fresh and clean.

You can add some ammonia to the wash to help remove the stains. I always add baking soda to the machine when I wash the dog's stuff.

I have used Borateem for years for urine odor. Just put it in with your detergent and wash as usual. You may need to wash it two or three times. Borateem is used primarily for odor not stains.

I would wash it with cool water (not hot hot water), and use half a cup of vinegar and half a cup of baking soda, and a squirt of dish soap. If you use hot water, it will cause the urine smell to be way worse, so use cool water when you clean it. Good luck!!

This explains why one should never use an ammonia based product when cleaning up something that has ammonia in it
