Removing Sharpie Marker from Skin

I would like to know how to remove permanent marker from my daughter's skin?

Try hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol. Might also try baby oil, hairspray, or nail polish remover. (11/16/2009)

Don't use the nail polish remover, or scrub hard. It will irritate her skin. I would take pictures for the photo album, laugh it off, and let it wear off naturally. Every kid does this. My 2 year old granddaughter came out of her mom's bedroom last week to show us all how "bootiful" her tummy was. (11/17/2009)

Removing Sharpie Marker from Skin

I woke up this morning to my 3 1/2 year old having marked up himself and his 1 year old brother with a Sharpie marker. After getting over being upset at myself, I Googled it on here. Everything is helpful. I ended up using the shaving cream method and it worked. I was really shocked. It got all of it off in some areas and in others it got most off and left a small marking still on. After all the shaving cream I gave them both a bath and used some shampoo to see if anymore would come off and it did. I used Bedhead shampoo, but I am pretty sure it would work even with a different shampoo. (02/11/2010)

First of all, thank you so much for this website. You guys are the best. I have a 2 year old that covered herself from head to toe nails in black Sharpie. I read all the responses and decided to try two of the recommendations and wow, it worked. But after reading I was concerned about chemicals. Please do what I did first. I went with the least harmful first. I tried baby wipes which worked, but I realized quickly that I would spend the day doing it. So, I got creative and added vegetable oil to the wipes.

Amazing. I was able to completely remove every mark from her body and catch this, she was asleep the whole time. When she woke up I gave her a bath and a kiss and let her watch Jungle Book. Crisis diverted before the wifey got home.

Thank you.

Please stay away from WD40 and alcohol if you have baby wipes and mineral or vegetable oil. Thanks again. (03/12/2010)
