It should be done every two to five years. Most people in my area have it done professionally

We used to do our driveway every 3 years. My dad had this squeegee like tool and we would start from the street and work out way down into the garage.
We used to do it in the early summer...when the temps were cooler in the morning and it wasn't raining.

When working with asphalt it is a very messy job and it should be professionally done. The maintenance on this is not so hard and it should last you for up to 5 years before it needs to be done again.
