Reuse Paper Towels and Napkins

A folded white paper towel before being used.In our household, if you opt to use paper towels/napkins to dry your hands after washing then the paper towel/napkin should be used for at least another 2 times.

Here's how it works:

  1. Wash your hands and your hands are clean just wet, so you need a paper napkin to dry off.

  2. Once you finish drying off your hands, soak the napkin in water and squeeze excess water out.

  3. Allow paper napkin to dry on the counter and the following day, you'll have the napkin(s) to use.

  4. We usually repeat once again then the third time use to wipe down the tables, clean any messes/spills or accumulate for cleaning the restrooms mirrors, vanity and such. This process will only work if the paper towels/napkins are the durable kind. If they are the flimsy ones like the ones you receive from fast food restaurants, those won't work.

When I wash my hair, before I blow dry it, I towel dry but then, I use be a paper dtowel and blot my still wet hair. Drys much faster. I also save the paper towel and reuse over and over.

Yes, the paper towel is clean! No need to toss it out.

This seems like a lot of work.

I get 8/1.00 handi wipes at the dollar tree. No tree has to die and I can get at least 2-4 weeks out of just one.

If you want to keep one dry for your hands, hang it over the oven handle and tie a pretty ribbon around it to keep it from falling off.

Aren't your hands going to get wet again on step 2?

Just wash squeeze and hang to dry- yes your hands are wet but you can put them aside until later and do them all at once -! Use a kitchen towel to dry your hands.

Personally I rarely use paper towels now. We use a hand towel to dry hands and cloth napkins for use while eating. They only need to be washed occasionally, plus it is environmentally friendly, and easier on the budget.

I too try to use cloth napkins but I have 5 in my family so (for the amount I have) I can only use 1 time wash these use the other set and then visa versa- I try not to do wash every day.

I do this too with my family! Unfortunately, my bf volunteered this information about us because he thought I wasn't making enough conversation with his friend. And his friend is a nursing assistant and said "Aren't you just wiping germs everywhere then?" I explained we wash our hands thoroughly, they're just wet so we dry them with our durable Bounty paper towels, soak, dry, and use for the floor or spills.

What's your take on this? Because after that, I felt kind of offended and wish my bf would stop trying to get me into conversations by volunteering information about me.

Exactly, I use the rewashed towels on progressively yuckier jobs. I dont dry my hands with paper towels, its the counter, floors, messes, under the sink until they shred. I use antibacterial to wash them out (I wouldnt swear they are clean enough for your face. I think your B.F. is trying to embarrass you in front of others because why would you share that with strangers or new acquaintances?

I do the same. Trying to find a nice way to store them.

I fold them loosely and store in a zip lock - but they dont last too long in storage until I need them again

Bravo! I always reuse paper towels - the kids use too many when cleaning the counter so I just wash them and hang dry to use on the counter again. I use basically until they shred. You can even use a salad spinner to put warm water in and a little soap. Agitate the paper towels and coffee or other stains come out and antibacterial dish soaps help sanitize the towels some what ( I wouldnt swear by that) I feel really good when I can do small things for our environment.

My family thinks Im crazy but I dont care.
