Reusing a Charcoal Filter for Composter?

My filter in the lid of a composting bin is good for around 3 months before it expires. I don't know who manufactured this model so I need to make my own replacements or re-charcoal the existing pad. Does anyone know how to do this? Any suggestions gratefully received.
