Cutting trees is hard work. Most people expect to be paid. You can put an ad in Craigslist offering the lumber in exchange for the wood. I hope someone takes you up on it.

It is hard too find a tree buyer but not impossible.Since you have 4 trees it is better for the tree cutter.Make sure you know what tree species they are.Find out what trees are most valuable in your area by calling a person who cuts trees.Be sure you measure your tree the bigger they are the more interested. Know the height of the tree. With a yardstick, pace 50 ft. on a parallel plane. Hold the stick 25 inches out parallel to the tree. Every inch represents 2 ft. of height.Know the location of your tree. Other states have logging associations who can help you and every state has a forestry department or agency.

These departments of forestry have lists of potential timber buyers who are often interested in purchasing excellent quality yard trees. Know the height of the tree. Know if the location of the tree is one that large, heavy tree harvesting equipment can get to. What structures and infrastructure are in the path of the tree's removal? Is there a septic system, structures, other trees and plants, power lines, underground pipes? Would it be expensive (or even possible) to transport and run harvesting equipment onto your property.

Many people want to have trees removed from their property. Often someone tells them that tree removal services will pay them to remove trees from their property. Unfortunately, they face many problems:

*Tree removal companies are not interested in paying the owner in small jobs, such as a few acres of trees, as their costs in insurance, machinery and workers are very high.

*Some companies may be interested in a larger project if the land owner pays the company, however, the land owner might then find that the company sells the trees to lumber companies. The tree company then has the tree removal payment and the lumber sale payment, as well.

*Insurance liabilities on both sides can be very high as tree removal is a dangerous job and companies must carry high insurance costs for injury to workers and property. The property owner may face injury and damage costs, and legal problems, as well. Tree removal companies are required to carry insurance and bond for their company and workers but this does not mean the property owner does not need coverage for the property and possible injuries etc.

*Depending on the area or state of the property, the owner may face permit requirements, historic, cultural and other limitations in removing trees from a property.

So, an answer to your question is not simple. You may find a tree removal service by putting an ad on Craigslist, etc., but you still face all the issues above with no guarantees.

*Frequently property owners may find they need an attorney to address the issues and prepare a contract. You should discuss your plans with an attorney familiar with land use and then make an informed decision.

A caveat here-be careful not to provide the property address or even the general location of the trees to any company or person you might find from Craigslist, etc., before signing a contract. You may find that someone has removed the trees from your property without your knowledge.

You can try calling some companies and see if they want to pay for the trees.

Start posting for free on Craigslist in the selling section-- if you have no takers, call the local lumberyards.

Your number one priority should be finding someone capable of removing these trees without damaging your house as not all tree cutters are reliable when doing this type of job. Most of them are used to cutting trees in an unoccupied area and may not have any type of insurance. Also, you should realize that anyone working on your property will be covered by your homeowners insurance so if they are insured it may cost a bundle and could present problems with your insurance in the future. Most larger companies have their own coverage but they will most likely charge a large sum of money to remove those trees as it cost them a lot of money just to load up the truck with their very expensive equipment and take it to your property.

I do not know what size property you have but most of this type of equipment needs a good size space to safely maneuver and cut trees especially when they are close to a building.
Please take precautions and do not hire someone (even if you are paying someone) that is not licensed and bonded.

Normally, you could call any lumber mills in your area and ask for companies that do small jobs (I do not believe you will find anyone to pay you or even cut them for free) and call around for information. Be sure that clean up is included in anything you decide to do as that is a major job and requires a lot of extra work for a company.
I do not believe this is a good time to use Craigslist due to the nature of the work to be done.
