I don't know any places that can ship plus the fabric be under $2.00 a yard.

Joann's is a great store sometimes offering 50-60% off, but it is in store only. Or, you can order for store pick up.

Step 1
Finding fabric.

Step 2
I do volunteer work at a thrift shop. We charge $1.00 a yard for all fabric.

Step 3
Check with any thrift shops in your area and ask if they carry fabric, and how much they charge by the yard.

Step 4
Also find out what day fabric is put out on the shelves for getting the best choice, usually it is put out once a week on a certain day.

I would check out Ebay I have found several good deals on fabric through Ebay. Also, you could post an ad on craigslist that you are looking to buy fabric and what you are willing to pay.

Your best bet is to find fabric on sale or post a want ad on Craigslist.

If you are wanting to order fabric and have it shipped then you will probably have to more than double that cost.

  • Shipping for cotton or broadcloth will be expensive for even 2 or 3 yards of fabric.

  • You may be able to purchase fabric at a lesser than retail price if you purchase it by a minimum of 10 -20 yards.
  • Shipping is usually free if you purchase $35 -$50 of merchandise.
  • If you are looking to buy smaller quantities then shopping at thrift stores in your area might be a way for you to find less expensive pieces with no shipping cost involved.
  • You might also check out any local sites like Craigslist, FreeCycle and anything else in your zip area.

Keep an eye on your local fabric stores? You'll probably be able to find roll ends and perhaps even bargain sections. Seasonal fabrics often go on sale, too (after Hallowe'en, for example, or Christmas).
