Storing Bread in the Refrigerator

Bronze Feedback Medal for All Time! 140 Feedbacks

I use to throw away so much bread because it would get moldy. My kitchen stays warm even in the winter months. I now store it in the refrigerator and have ended the mold issues. The bread stays fresh and have had no problems. I also found that English muffins got moldy the fastest until I discovered taking them out of the paper tray and just leaving them in the plastic wrap. The paper tray keeps moisture in and causes mold so much faster. I now have no waste with them also.

We freeze ours. Be sure to take as much air out of the bag as possible.

Even better, put them in the freezer then just snap off two pieces or however many you need. They don't take long to defrost.

We have been having a lot of trouble with moldy bread.
I was not sure about the refrigerator or the freezer method of storage.
Does the bread dry out quickly?
