Storing Eggs?

When you put eggs in the egg tray in the refrigerator, should the big end of the egg be up or down?

It doesn't matter.

While it is correct that which end of the egg is up doesn't matter, eggs should be left in the carton instead of being placed in the refrigerator tray. Leaving them in the carton keeps them fresher for a longer period of time.

I was brought up being told to put the small end down and that is how I have always done it.

For those who don't have those cute little egg racks on the fridge door you can use your egg carton. I just cut the top off the paper or styrofoam container and place it under the portion where the eggs are.

It makes it sturdier and will sit on the fridge shelf.
