This is a great way to always have succulent plants available for your craft projects and decorations around your home. We all love to decorate and grow succulent plants these days. When we cut our plants there are always leaves that need to be removed. Don't throw them away. Make this easy succulent plant starter and within a few days you can plant those leaves to start growing new plants.
Total Time: 10 Minutes
Yield: 1 Plant Starter
Supplies:
- plastic bottle with lid
- knife
- succulent plant leaves
Steps:
- Clean and wash out the plastic bottle you want to use.
- Remove the lid and take your knife to make a small hole in the upper part of the bottle. Continue to make the holes in the bottle to add your leaves to the bottle. Do not go too far down the bottle when making our holes. Only use the upper half of the bottle.
- Now place your leaves in the holes. The cut part of the leaf goes on the inside and the rest of the leaf stays on the outside.
- Fill the lower half of the bottle with water and add the cap to the bottle.
- The leaves will start to root within 4 to 8 days. Leave the leaves in the bottle until you see a good amount of roots on each one of them.
- Now take the leaf and plant it in a small pot to grow a new plant. The new plant normally starts to grow within a week or two.

Thank you so much it works great. I like it because it is easy to make and only takes a few days for the roots to start on the leaves.

Im confused here. Is the water in the bottom for humidity only? Ive always just laid leaves on top of a pot of dirt. Can you clarify this for me? Thanks!

Yes, it is for humidity and helps to root the leaves so much faster than just laying them in the dirt.
