The hardware for the tiered serving plate.
 

Steps:

  1. Use three different sizes of plates or bowls for tiers. Using the special drill bit, drill a hole in the center of each.
  2. Three different ceramic plates.
     
    Drilling a hole in a ceramic plate.
     
  3. Using the hardware, attach the plates or bowls, starting with the bottom and working your way to the top.
  4. Adding hardware to the plates.
     
    Adding hardware to the plates.
     
    Stacking the plates on the hardware.
     
  5. You can use a variety of colors, designs, and sizes to make creative serving bowls.

Thanks for the useful instructions. I have a collection of older pink glass plates that a friend gave me. I was planning on making a flower decoration for my garden with them but this project would be so cute too.

Be careful with glass. You might have to use a drill bit just for glass. I would hate to have you risk it since they are older plates. I think stoneware is your bet bet.

I will need to use a glass drill bit. I saved the plates from going to the dump. I'm trying to recreate these pretty flowers that I've seen over the years at farmer's markets and craft fairs.

I may get some practice plates from a thrift store or garage sale. There are so many more than are wanted anymore.

We have also drilled plates and made them into flowers and attached them to a metal stand. We have a grouping in our backyard. Look at my post from the past called "Bug Sculpture" to see my glass flowers.
