Using Bird Cages As Outdoor Planters

I never really liked the the idea of caged birds, but love the intricate designs that bird cages bring.

Steps:

  1. If painting your bird cages, make sure it is cleaned first. With spray paint, cover, and allow to dry.
  2. For my large cage I chose to use a coconut liner as a pot. It fits snugly and allows plantings to look nice and drain well. Fill half way with soil, then add plantings, water, and display.
  3. For the terra cotta pot I glued the moss around the pot below the rim.
  4. Here are some examples of the large cage hanging in the garden and other plantings.
