Using Your Last Name as A Business Name

I HIGHLY recommend to all of you that are looking to name your business using your last name, reconsider it if it is your husband's last name.

After being together for 29 years (27 very happy), my husband up and has a midlife crisis and we are divorcing. I never saw this coming. Now my business and I are tied to his name.

Just a word of caution from a wife that NEVER saw this coming.

You are so right. I am very thankful today that nearly 20 years ago I started using my name. Now what's mine is mine and what's his is his. We are together but this applies to ageing couples as it takes away much of the need for clarifying paperwork as ones health degrades, saving time and stress.

It might be a pain but your business can survive a make-over. Loyal clients/customers who know what happened, or even those who don't, will follow you.

I am sorry this happened. Make a clean break, after a while you will feel so much better.
