My older dog started having bladder issues. She was having accidents in the house, on dog beds and on our bed! She would rather die than have an accident in the house, plus all the laundry to wash everything and countless dog beds that could not be saved. I decided to make a blanket to toss over the beds to protect them. I used a soft fleece for one side, a thicker, fluffy lamb's wool looking fabric for the other, and a baby crib waterproof protector sheet for the middle. Match up the fabrics, sew them together and viola!

What a good idea! Do be sure and have your dog checked for diabetes. It causes the "drink a lot, pee a lot" behavior you are describing. It is common in older pets and easily treated by a tiny injection under the skin daily. She will feel good again and so will you. And they dont even notice the tiny needle you use.
I too do this. I had a Greyhound who when he got older his back went out & he had a pinched nerve - very painful. Took him to the vet asap & was told it would be $1,000 to fix it. Instead of letting my emotions carry me away I asked for the strongest Rx and I'd get back to them about it. The next day I took him to another Vet who told me I did the smart thing because his back problem would correct itself with the help of the pain meds the other vet gave me in two more days and it did.
