No one knows how they got to the island; there are many stories, of course. These horses are completely wild, living free under the quilt of God's graces here in the Aleutians. They will eat apples and carrots out of your hand if they recognize you; just don't offer them any pumpkins or celery stalks!
This is a picture of a couple of the wild horses that came out by our house in Nevada. It was a really windy day, and they were being playful and chasing each other. They looked like they were having a lot of fun. It was always so exciting when the wild horses showed up.
