Tiger Motif?

My teenage daughter went back to school after her spring break. We want to redecorate her room while she is away. She chose a tiger motif. Any ideas? Thanks.

Use tiger printed pillow cases or make throw pillows with tiger printed material against a plain colored comforter. At her desk you could get tiger motif mug to put pencils, etc. Try ABC or LTD catalogs for other knick knacks. They claim price is only offered in sets of three or more, but this isn't enforced so don't worry. They have extremely low prices even with the shipping and handling. Good luck and have fun.

First I would start with a very pale tan wall paint. Then I would buy curtains, sheet sets, rugs, throw pillows and accessories in both the tiger motif and complimentry colors [tans oranges, some black and white].

I would look into a reversable comforter as well. This way, the items can be interchanged according to her mood, or the season. And she will have the solid color items if she decides to get away from tiger for awhile.

You can do so much - I picture a jungle theme accented with tiger. Wash the walls with a 2 different shades of thinned green paint (let dry in between) kind of unblended. A few groupings of bushy real or faux plants. Hang a hoop above the bed and drape mosquito netting or tulle from it to create a canopy effect for the bed that drops on either side to the floor. Glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. Cover a wall or room divider screen (make one yourself from 2-3 shutters put together with hinges)with one of those bamboo looking roll up shades turned on it's side so the "bamboo" is standing up rather than side to side. Attach with small nails or a staple gun. Customize old furniture by painting it and stencilling with vines.

Accent with a painted tiger on another wall or one on the bed (I've seen tiger throws) and tiger accessories. If you have a wood floor you could get REALLY creative and make a stencil from some tiger footprints from a zoo site and stencil and footprint trail across the floor. Use a thin grass mat for an area rug. Keep an eye out in thrift shops, garage sales, flea market, etc. for things like a pith helmet that are safari/jungle related. Don't pressure yourself to get everything "perfect" before she comes home - she may be inspired by a not-quite-finished room and get creative herself. Most of all, make it fun for you to do as well as fun for her to anticipate.
