Teepees for Sugar Pea Vines

I needed "teepees" for my sugar pea vines (good for green bean vines too) to grow up on and had no wooden stakes. Instead of going out and buying stakes, I turned my round, metal tomato cages upside-down and tied together the three legs to form a teepee. You could also use them as you would for tomatoes (three legs in the ground). By the time my tomatoes are needing staked up, the peas will be done and the cages ready to use again.

That's a great idea Connie! I actually needed to go buy more tomato cages, but we live on a big chunk of land, so finding the appropriate sized downed branches was no problem after the recent storms...

Q: Why not leave the 'leg's untied as it gives the peas just that much more growing room?

I go to our transfer station in town and search for thrown away baby cribs. I use the head and foot boards for one teepee and the sides for another.

I sink the ends into the ground and use wire or jute to tie the tops into a teepee. I use metal or wood cribs.
