I think they meant "consomme": a thin clear soup.

My middle name is Susann and I have NEVER seen it spelled the same way as mine, that is until now! :-)
I believe it should be consomme: A clear soup made of strained meat or vegetable stock, served hot or as a cold jelly. Bonnie
