Artist Searching for 50 Used Empty Gallon Size Paint Cans?

I'm a visual artist and I'm searching for 50 used empty 1 gallon paint cans. The residual paint must be dried. Any suggestions where I could find such a quantity?

In some states they collect these for recycling purposes, as paint is a hazardous waste.
Check with your Chamber of Commerce for recycle facilities in the area?

Run a newspaper ad and ask for private donations. Keep in mind you will probably need to dispose of the paint the cans will probably have in them!

Check with small job paint contractors in your area, as they would buy by the gallon and not the larger sized can. They are bound to have lots of empties-just offer to pick them up.

You could also post on Craigslist for your area. You would be surprised to find most folks have almost empty cans sitting in their garages and basements.

I don't know if you have a Menards close to you but they sell empty gallon cans. I would think maybe Home Depot or Lowes would do the same.

Have you tried calling or visiting private painters and home repair companies? They might have bunches from different home improvements they have done.

How about checking with your local recycling center. Around here, there are certain times of the year/dates that different towns can get rid of paint/cans, as you said, they are required to be dried, so maybe that would be a good option.
