Finding Someone to Clear Trees?

We are about to clear some land for building. We need the trees cleared off. We are willing to give the trees to whomever clear cuts them down. We live in North Carolina. Any suggestions?

Craigslist or FreeCycle would be good places to advert this, also in your church bulletin if you attend a church.

Be careful in going about this, though-check your homeowner insurance to be sure that anyone injured in the process of cutting and clearing is covered, and that any damage the cutter causes to your property is likewise covered.

Contact the lumber yards here in NC. They should be able to put you in contact with reputable people to do that work.
Also, you can contact tree cutting businesses and tell them you will swap the lumber for the labor.

It can be hard to find someone to cut a few trees free of charge. Usually timber men want acres of trees in order to make it worth their while.

So the answer is to find some other way to make it worth their while. Do they have kids and need a babysitter? Do they like home-baked bread? Do they need yardwork? Do they like fresh fish? You will have to make a commitment equal to their work, but barter often works.

For example, my neighbor got free dentures in exchange for 3 years landscaping at the dentist office.
