Recover chair seats (such as dining chairs) on the cheap by using alternative fabric sources such as curtains found at second hand/thrift stores or clearance fabric table covers or sheets found just about anywhere.

This reminded me of my sister who passed away last year. When she and her husband were newly weds and struggling she would get new draperies. When she changed them out she would use the fabric to cover her DH's favorite chair and ottoman. That man read the newspaper in that chair for at least 30 years and it always looked nice.
