Cream butter with vanilla until very soft. Beat in sugar gradually. Beat in egg and egg yolk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and add all at once to the egg mixture. Mix well. Chill for several hours or overnight. Break off small portions of dough and roll as thinly as possible on pastry board sprinkled with sugar. cut dough into diamond shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush tops with the milk and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F (preheated) for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
