Use Your Phone Camera to Check Your Remote Battery

If your remote (for your TV or other similar device) stops working, but you're not sure if it's the battery or the connection, you can check this by using your cell phone camera. Turn on your cell phone camera and while looking through the phone screen at the remote sensor, press a button on the remote. If the battery is working you will see a red light coming from the remote sensor (that signals the TV or other device). It really works, check it out.

You could probably just look at the sensor. You don't have to have a phone to see the light.
