The rear wheels on my Yard Machine riding mower won't turn. If I raise the rear wheels off the ground, the wheels will turn in opposite directions of each other.

My yard machine starts but when I put it in gear it won't move and it smells like something is burning I'm seeing white smoke . and when I try to push it my wheels turn in different directions
check your brake caliper might be froze up and needing cleaned up or replaced, the pins build up rust and crude build ups

I have a older Murray riding mower. The back wheels are locked up and I can't even push it. When I jack it up, the wheels spin with no problem. Any idea of what it might be would be appreciated.
