The best candle holders are the old fashioned ones that had a wide, elongated base and a curled up piece on the end to hold it, so you could carry it around without dripping candle wax all over. I haven't seen them in years. They were made of brass, but stainless steel would be awesome! And as for being universal: a "prong type" clip, such as on some lamp shades, with 5 prongs, with ends facing up, (looks like a tulip) that spread apart and close on the candle to hold it, would work great!
