When making toasted sandwiches the top slice of bread sticks to the grilling machine plates. How do I avoid this?

Make sure it is good and clean, and not sticking to old food. Then before use, spray it with PAM or a product similar to PAM.
The finish may be wearing off. Put oil on a paper towel and wipe it on the plates before you turn it on to use it.
